Phonics – What are phonics? Phonics are sound units or blocks. Simply put, phonics is the correct system of letters and letter groups that each make a sound, and how those building blocks are then put together to make words and sentences.
Why learn phonics? It’s important to learn phonics to learn how to read, spell, and write well. It can also help people speak properly if there are any sounds they are mispronouncing.
What’s an example of a phonic? A good example is ‘igh’ sounds like the long i, as in the words night, and right. But notice that the phonic ‘eigh’ sounds like the long a, as in eight and weigh. This is one reason that learning a complete system of phonics from a qualified teacher is important. (There are 44 different sounds in English, but many ways to spell them) Otherwise you may always second guess your own spelling, and have words that continue to stump you over and over again.
Accent correction – If English isn’t your first language, and you want to sound better, the neutral accent program is for you. Correct sounds that are hard for foreigners to make like ‘th’, ‘r’, and ‘w’. Fun practice exercises to help improve your speaking.
